The parents of Rebecca Coriam, who vanished from a Disney cruise ship fear they may never see her again.
The alarm was raised last Tuesday after Rebecca Coriam, 24, was reported missing at sea after she failed to turn up for a shift on on board the luxury liner, Disney Wonder. Her mother Ann said: “We just don’t know what happened to her, do we? And that’s just the worst. We’ve got to find out what happened.”
Ann and Father Michael had flown out to the US to meet investigators, but unfortunately returned without their daughter. Mr and Mrs Coriam have now made an emotional plea for news of Rebecca, and Mr Coriam, from Chester, said: “It is just very, very painful and the thought of not seeing her again… It is just frightening to think about really.”
The Disney Wonder is a 1,000ft ship, carrying 2,500 passengers and with a crew of 1,000. The Luxury liner was cruising off Mexico when Rebecca was reported missing. According to associate press, Rebecca’s cousin, Trish Davies said officials on board told the family that Rebecca made a phone call from the ship shortly before being reported missing.
She added: “They say they know what the conversation was but they’re not telling us. They say they’ve got to wait for the investigation.” The US Coast Guard and the Mexican Navy have both joined in the search for missing Rebecca, and the ship has been searched multiple times.
Press reports state that Investigators believe there are three possibilities: She fell overboard accidentally, jumped or was pushed.
A Disney spokesman said: “We have been doing everything possible to find Rebecca.”
